Aspects, continued

Opposition is what occurs when planets are 180 degrees apart in a chart (within a few degrees). This is the symbol for opposition. Opposition is considered a difficult aspect. Opposites attract, but there is tension between them. The challenge is to balance the two poles of the opposition. Here is how an exact opposition between Mars and Venus might look in a chart. Note they are both at exactly the same degree (7).

Trines occur when planets are about 120 degrees apart. This can also be described as 4 signs apart. Both planets in a trine are generally in the same element, although if the trine is not exact, it is possible to have an "out of sign" trine (where the planets are not in the same element, though they just a few degrees over 120 degrees apart). This is the symbol for a trine. A trine is considered a harmonious aspect. Here is how an exact trine between Venus and Uranus might look in a chart. Note they are both at exactly the same degree (7).
