Aspects, continued

Squares occur when planets are about 90 degrees from each other in a chart. This can also be expressed as 3 signs apart. Planets which are squared are usually in signs of the same mode. This is the symbol for a square. A square is considered a difficult aspect. There is some sort of conflict between the energies of the two planets in a square. This is how an exact square between Uranus and Venus would look in a chart. Note that they are in the same degree (7).

Sextiles occur when planets are about 60 degrees apart (or two signs apart). The planets in a sextile are usually in different, yet harmonious, signs. Fire and Air are harmonious, as are Earth and Water. Here is the symbol for a sextile. A sextile is considered a harmonious aspect, though it is not as strong as a trine. Here is how an exact sextile between Venus and the Moon would look in a chart. Note they are in the same degree (7).
