The Moon's North and South Nodes

The Moon's nodes are the points in space where the Moon crosses the ecliptic (the line marked by the constellations of the zodiac) in its travels from north to south and from south to north. These change over time. The nodes take about 19 years to go around the whole zodiac.

The North Node indicates where we are going in this lifetime. It is our path, the area of life we need to develop in this incarnation, what we need to learn. It represents the future. Often only the North Node symbol is shown on astrology charts, but if you know where the North Node is, then you know where the South Node is as well, because...

the South Node is always exactly opposite the North Node, at the same degree in the polar opposite sign. The South Node indicates the gifts and talents we came into this life with, what we already know. It is the sum of past incarnations. As such, it represents the past, where we have been.
