Peace Star

This image was intended as a non-denominational
holiday greeting. For years, I have believed in sending Winter Solstice
greeting cards that are not specific to any particular religion. Most
major religions have an important holiday around the time of the Winter Solstice,
so it is a time that all of humanity can celebrate together. As a child,
I was brought up in the Christian tradition, so we celebrated Christmas in my
house. Over the years, I have had many friends who celebrate other holidays
at this time of year, among them Hannukah, Winter Solstice, and Kwanzaa.
This image incorporates a six-pointed
Star of David, and two five-pointed stars representing the star of Bethlehem
and the five points of the human body or the five Chinese elements (water,
wood, fire, metal, and earth). In the center, it has a spark of light
representing both the precious light of the sun, which begins its return at
the Winter Solstice, and the spark of divinity in each of us. I wish
each of you peace in the new millenium.
